A unique hotel awaits you right on Madrid’s “Golden Mile”, the most exclusive area in the city. It is housed in a 19th-century palace which was transformed into this luxurious 44-room boutique hotel and has just recently been redesigned (spring 2011)
Its elegant façade conceals a noble structure with modern rooms, high ceilings and large windows. Respect for the building’s elegance, shown, for example, in its stately main staircase and the marble mosaics in its public areas, coexists with the absolute quality of its spacious rooms in which warm, neutral colours make our guests feel as if they were staying in one of the aristocratic private residences of the upscale district of Salamanca, where it is indeed located.
An exclusive spacious yet tranquil inner garden-courtyard, with a pleasant open-air lounge area, is the perfect spot to savour a cocktail, read leisurely or simply take in the sun. An exterior living room area with comfortable low armchairs, a handy bar for relaxing over a cup of coffee, mid-day “tapas”, afternoon tea or a gin and tonic at night. All served with the utmost attention to detail in an exclusive secret hideaway. The garden may be reserved for private events.
From here you can access the Restaurant Ramon Freixa Madrid which has quickly become a “must” in the city, having been awarded 2 Michelin stars and named “Best Restaurant in Madrid” at the prestigious Madrid Fusion gastronomic event. Such distinctions honour the talent and capacity of this renowned chef for his imaginative, surprising dishes that neither neglect tradition nor disguise the ingredients. Exceptional presentation, sophisticated table service, an extensive wine list, and high quality with an ongoing quest for excellence make for a uniquely luxurious “gastro experience” in the Spanish capital. Ramon Freixa also orchestrates Único’s superb signature breakfasts.
The hotel also has several lounges overlooking either the garden or Calle Claudio Coello which beckon guests to take a break from the lure of expeditions in Madrid’s foremost shopping district. A personal shopper will see to your purchases or accompany you, should you so wish.
A modern fitness centre and an extensive range of massages in The Wellness Suite round out the splendid offer of what, despite the apparent cliché, is a true urban oasis. The hotel also has a large guest car park.
